As everybody knows, sports are connecting people. This idea forms the basis of the relief project 2005. According to the principle "RUN FOR SOUTH AFRICAN CHILDREN", Andreas Eicher, sportsman of extreme disciplines will be running two ultra marathons in South Africa covering a total distance of 145 kilometres (90.10 st.miles) This magic figure also serves as a measuring staff for the fund-raising drive in favour of the organization terre des hommes – Help for Children in Need which attends to projects helping stray children worldwide and which also takes care of two schemes in South Africa. Because for each kilometer covered running, 100 € are to be donated for the projects, which amounts to the sum of 14,500.00 €. "With this project I will be able to help those who most need the money: the poorest of the poor, the stray children of South Africa" says Andreas Eicher and thus, he finds common ground for the idea of the fund–raising marathon. You can join in to the aid project by sponsoring one of the two runs in South Africa.
